ArticlesADAM'S RIB- HOW FAT IS MADE (PART 1) Fat people are not born that way, they are made fat by overeating. Each person, male or female, is born with a set number of fat cells. Before age two and in the years before puberty, if you overeat and store fat, your body develops additional fat cells—which you will feed for the rest of your life. If you do not overeat, you will not gain extra fat cells and you are unlikely to have a weight problem in the future. Once you have those extra fat cells running amok in your body, even if you succeed in taking off excess poundage, you will still have the same inflated number of cells—all calling out for more cheesecake. Since life is not fair, each person is bora with a different number of fat cells, and women are born with more of them than men. The obvious solution is not to let fat cells be fruitful or multiply. If you have children, you can now do your best to see they never grow up to have a weight problem. Your husband, however, was reared at a time when fat babies were considered healthy babies. His mom didn't know about the perils of excess fat cells. He never had a chance. *23/243/1* |
