ArticlesWEIGHT LOSS SOLUTION: SCOPE OUT RESTAURANTS For a restaurant meal, call the restaurant in advance and ask them to fax the menu to your home or office. If that's not possible, discuss the menu with the restaurant personnel on the phone for a few minutes I do this for clients all the time. That way, if someone wants to go to a new restaurant or one you haven't previously visited, you will know beforehand what's on the menu and determine if this is a "good" place for you. If it isn't good for you food-wise, at least you can make the best of the situation. I want you to eliminate the unexpected where food is concerned. Seeing the menu in advance will also help with your food selection once you are in the restaurant because many times it's easy to become distracted with conversation and the activity in the restaurant. You also don't want to keep others waiting and consequently make a quick selection that is fatal to your weight-loss plan. You retain control and save time by advance planning. In addition, each time you get another menu, keep it in a file at your home or office so that you have a place to turn when someone wants to select a restaurant. This will not only save you time in the future, but also keep your eating program from experiencing an unforeseen setback. Now consider those meals you will be eating at home or ordering in. If you are going to stop for carryout on the way home from the office or after having picked up the kids, then decide in advance where you will purchase it. Keep a file of carryout menus that will help you make this decision. A few minutes of planning takes most of the "unknown" out of the decision-making process and it lessens impulse purchases. You take a few minutes, and you save yourself hundreds, possibly thousands, of calories and time. A small investment in time and planning will yield great results when it comes to your food choices and ultimately your success at weight loss. *24/280/5* |
